A delightful Pumpkin Spice Americano recipe featuring espresso, pumpkin pie sauce, and half & half for a creamy finish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 to 4 shots (60–120 ml) brewed espresso, prepared by espresso machine, Nespresso machine, Moka pot, Aeropress, or instant espresso powder
- 1 to 2 tablespoons (15–30 ml) Torani Pumpkin Pie Sauce or homemade pumpkin sauce
- 1 to 2 tablespoons (15–30 ml) Torani French Vanilla Syrup or vanilla powder
- 2 to 4 ounces (60–120 ml) half & half
- Torani Caramel Sauce, amount for cup drizzle and optional topping
- Ice, as needed to fill the serving cup
Instructions
- Step 1: Brew 2 to 4 shots of espresso using your preferred method. Options include an espresso machine, Nespresso machine, Moka pot, Aeropress, or instant espresso powder. A strong espresso base is essential to carry the flavor profile of the drink.

- Step 2: Add 1 to 2 tablespoons each of Torani Pumpkin Pie Sauce and Torani French Vanilla Syrup (or vanilla powder) to the hot brewed espresso. Stir thoroughly, for at least 30 seconds, until the pumpkin sauce and syrup are fully combined to ensure even flavor distribution.

- Step 3: Drizzle caramel sauce all around the inside of the serving cup in a decorative pattern. Then, fill the cup with ice to the desired level.

- Step 4: Pour the pumpkin-vanilla espresso mixture over the ice in the caramel-drizzled cup. Next, top with 2 to 4 ounces (60-120 ml) of half & half, which adds creaminess and balances the strong espresso and sweetness. Stir gently if preferred to integrate flavors.

- Step 5: For a sweeter finish and enhanced presentation, drizzle additional caramel sauce over the top of the drink. This creates a visual appeal and adds extra flavor.

Notes
- Room Temperature: Store the pumpkin espresso mixture in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 day. Avoid leaving on ice to prevent moisture buildup.
- Refrigeration: Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Stir gently before serving to re-mix any separated layers.
- Freezing: Pour into a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 1 month. Thaw in the refrigerator and stir well before use.
- If espresso tastes too bitter, reduce quantity to 1 shot and adjust upwards to achieve the preferred strength.
- Warm caramel sauce 10 to 15 seconds in a microwave if it is too thick to drizzle smoothly.
- For added creaminess, increase half & half by 1 ounce (30 ml) after pouring over ice and stir well.
- Finish the drink with a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for visual enhancement if desired.
- Pair with pumpkin muffins or spiced banana bread for a seasonal taste experience.
- Serve alongside fresh fruit salad or nut-based energy bites for balanced refreshments.
- Use leftover pumpkin spice espresso as a base for pumpkin spice lattes, or incorporate into seasonal coffee cake or oatmeal.
- Add whipped cream, a dusting of nutmeg, or a drizzle of maple syrup or chocolate sauce for enhanced flavor variations.
- Use oat milk in place of half & half for a dairy-free, vegan option.
- Swap maple syrup in place of vanilla syrup for a different sweetness profile.
- Use homemade pumpkin sauce as a substitute for Torani Pumpkin Pie Sauce.
- Select a quality espresso roast with a bold, rich flavor for the best base.
- Use pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling, to maintain authentic pumpkin flavor and color.
- Choose a pumpkin spice blend containing cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves for seasonal flavor enhancement.
- For sweetness, pure vanilla extract or vanilla powder can be used to complement pumpkin notes.
- When concerned about creaminess, whole milk or half & half are preferable; oat milk can be used for a lighter, dairy-free option.
