Description

Deliciously crispy air fryer potato wedges, perfect for a quick snack or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium Yukon Gold potatoes (or russet potatoes), washed and dried
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 11/2 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1/21/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/41/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 11/2 teaspoon maple sugar (optional)
  • 11/2 teaspoon fine salt (add after wedges cook)

Instructions

  1. Dry the Wedges: Start by making sure your potato wedges are really dry. Use a paper towel to pat them down until they feel moisture-free. This is super important for getting that nice crispy texture later. Skipping this step might leave you with soggy wedges that definitely do not hit the spot.
  2. Season the Wedges: Once they are dry, sprinkle your favorite seasonings on the wedges, tossing them gently to ensure they are evenly coated. You will want to smell those spices releasing their aromatic goodness! Just be careful not to add too much salt initially since you can always adjust that later after cooking.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to the right temperature. You will notice it warming up, ready to do its magic. Skipping this step could leave your wedges undercooked, so give it a moment to heat up nicely before adding your potatoes.
  4. Air Fry the Wedges: Place the seasoned wedges in the air fryer basket in a single layer. The sizzling sound when they hit the basket is a good sign! Avoid overcrowding; if they are stacked, they will not cook evenly. Aim for even cooking for those golden-brown edges.
  5. Cool & Season Again: After about 12 minutes, take the wedges out and let them sit for a minute. You will want to sprinkle a bit of salt on top right away to draw out any excess moisture. Do not let them sit too long or they might lose their crispiness. Enjoy these tasty wedges while they are hot!

Notes

  • Store leftover potato wedges in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. They are best when fresh but can be reheated in the air fryer at 400 degrees F for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Ensure the wedges are dry before seasoning for that desired crunch. Cooking in smaller batches allows for better air circulation and even cooking. Cut all wedges to the same size, generally around 1/2 to 1 inch thick. If you notice excess moisture, salting the wedges immediately after cooking helps draw it out and enhances flavor.
  • Reheat in the air fryer at 400 degrees F for 3 to 5 minutes until heated through.
  • Serve with veggie burgers or cauliflower steaks. Pair with hearty salads for a filling meal. Enjoy alongside your favorite dipping sauces for added flavor.
  • Try sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes. Experiment with different seasoning blends like BBQ or taco seasoning. Add fresh herbs post-cooking for an aromatic finish.
  • When using different types of potatoes, remember that Yukon Golds give a creamier texture, while russets might be more starchy.
